"You were born with wings, why do you prefer to crawl through life?"

-Rumi

I actually have a similar quote from Zig Ziglar about success that I reference in my classroom with my students. "You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win." We thrive when we show up as the best versions of ourselves. I had a dear friend that told me daily before she passed that we should spend our time perusing the best version of ourself. I couldn't agree more with her statement. However, somewhere and somehow, many of us never received the tools to stand in our own greatness. Just wanting to be the best version of ourselves is not enough. It is a starting point. We have to take the actionable steps to get there. For me it is the struggle I have believing in myself. I have so many limiting views of what I am capable of achieving . While others are carving out big audacious dreams, I am over in the corner playing it safe. An area in my life that I have been pretty proficient in is my role as an educator. I have had some success in getting kids to buy into Ziglar's statement. We use it as a framework to achieving our academic goals. How can I take that knowledge and use it to help me shape the best version of myself? I think it has to be about stepping out and believing that I was created to soar. The best version of myself is worth the time and effort. It is important for not only me but for those that I journey with in this life. I hope to add some posts as I can continue cultivate the best version of me.
