Walk On

“An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.”

― Henry David Thoreau

I realize there are a lot of people in the world that hate Mondays. However, I am not one of them. Sure I would love the weekend to last a little longer. I mean there should definitely be an extra day between Saturday and Sunday. But Monday is a day full of such potential. It is the day that can really get us moving forward. What better way to move forward than walking. Over the last week, I have worked to create positive habits (hydration, mindful eating, mindfulness, and writing). As I move forward walking seems like a perfect fit to take me where I want to go. It's not something new to me. My feet have been taking me places for the last 42 years (I was a late walker - 18 months to be exact). Two years ago, I actually began walking during summer break and truly saw amazing health benefits. Clarity, increased energy, and positivity were things that propelled me forward. As school began, my walking practice took a seat and there it has remained. Last week was the first time I really thought about lacing up the tennis shoes and adding it to my daily routine. A new school year looms on the horizon, and I would be lying if I said I wasn't feeling worried about letting my new goals slide. Such thinking isn't in line with the whole "present not perfect" mentality I am trying to embrace. Therefore, there is no time to delve into the what-ifs. Too much of my life has been occupied with scenarios that might never play out. My energy is going to be invested in the "now" moving forward embracing my blessings. Happy Monday to you all! Oh and the best thing about walking is that it can be done anytime and anywhere. So if you haven't had a chance to throw on those sneakers, you still have time.
