"Whatever you are meant to do, move toward it and it will come to you."
-Gloria Dunn
At the beginning of 2018, I chose the word "move". Here's why:
1. Getting Unstuck - Upon reflection, I get stuck a lot. Stuck in my emotions and thinking. The only way to alleviate this is to get up and move forward.
2. Perspective - The view is so much more interesting when you move to high places. Perspective is so important. The best way I can describe it is when I was visiting Grenada, Spain, we were staying in the city and our view was limited due to the buildings around us. Once we climbed to the top of the city, the view was breathtaking. Not only were we able to see the city as a whole, we were able to turn, pivot, and see the vista from all directions. It was inspiring and made us want to travel further to explore more.
3. Health - I want to move beyond my current health and make better choices and decisions in regards to it. Really it's about getting active. Walking doesn't cost a thing and it's something I already know how to do. I hope that I can add swimming into the mix soon as well. The thought of moving through water makes me very happy. I also hope to move on from some bad habits and replace them with healthier ones.
4. Grace and Forgiveness - Taking time to gift myself with kindness and allow myself the grace and forgiveness to move on from past failings or mistakes is something I am working towards as well. I have an amazing inner critic that has taken four decades to craft its skill. I am learning how to quite the critic and move into my own life.
Whenever I say the word "move" I feel empowered to see change happen in my life. Even one small step away from something that does not serve or benefit me is a step closer to something truly exciting and transformative.
